    Description

This set of photos came from an estate of the family of a Canadian pilot who fought in WWI. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the flyer (although it may be Dick Mulvey - there is a Richard Mulvey listed as a Canadian cadet who was injured in a flying accident in October 1918), although he is pictured multiple times in the photos. These photos are associated with the 83 CTS which was an RFC training unit stationed in Camp Mohawk in Deseronto, Canada and evidently also trained in Benbrook, Texas. Most of the photos date 1917-1918. I must emphasize,
these are copies of the original photos/pages
. I have no idea what happened to the originals, but these are very high quality photos made, I would guess, in the 1960s or 1970s. As far as I can ascertain, these photos have never been published although I did send some scans to the Deseronto Historical Society to help with identification. There are about 60-70 pages of photos with some duplication. Images of crashed planes are a predominant theme - early aviation was not pretty. I've tried to give a sampling of the pages, but I'm limited to 12 images in the listing. Photos are all high resolution 8x10 size.
A great group of basically unresearched photos of WWI aviation. These sorts of groupings only come along once or twice in a lifetime.
First, a quick word about Best Offers. I use the Best Offer option because I generally get lots of requests to do a Buy-It-Now. This allows me to do that without all the hassle. However, the Best Offer is not an invitation to low ball. Any offers below the starting price will be rejected. I have a pretty high sell rate on my sales and most of my items sell at least 2X the starting price or more (I've even had items at 100X the starting price!) as I list starting prices generally well below my cost. While I encourage Best Offers, let's just say I encourage REALISTIC Best Offers.
Please ask any questions well before the auction ends. I can't tell you how many times I am bombarded with questions in the last 30 minutes or so. I can't effectively respond if you don't give me enough time. ?Shipping to the lower 48 is fixed. Additional costs to AK and HI. I also combine shipping with the second item (or more) shipping at a maximum of 1/2 the first item price.
