I found while walking along the beach on Kwajalein.  Scott Johnson has some great pictures of live ones he has found and photographed in their habitat in the Kwajalein area on his website, (just Google Kwajalein, you should find it easy.)  Anyhow, I had been walking along the beach just after a storm looking for old WW2 machine-gun rounds and such, when there, lying on the sand just in front of me was a still live ammiralis, so he was
live
collected even if he was a "beached" shell, ha!  Only got one other
ammiralis
that way, a small gem, and today, fifty years later, they still are two of my favorite shells!

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
