Taken by local fishermen with tangle nets in 50 meters of water, Bohol Island, the Philippines.  You know, I'm old.  I mean, really, I can remember when there was only 26 of these shells in the entire world.  I also can remember that while visiting the Philippines as a kid (thirteen at the time?) a photo was taken of me holding TWO

, and people got so excited about the photo it ended up in a

article...  Then the day came when we heard that someone
snorkeling
in the Solomons had found half dozen, that 's right, half a dozen!  And he KEPT ON finding half a dozen

almost every time he went out, the lucky beach bum!
Now
anyone
can own one, even you, but nice ones like this are still on the hard-to-find list.  This shell has a terrific pattern, dark color, an unworn spire, a great lip and even with the smooth repair near the mouth, it has that magical something that says it is the
Glory of the Seas.
And as the photos show, it is an exquisite beauty that will look

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
